Last week Gail suggested that we each bring in an item we made that was either our favorite or the first piece we ever made. Buckle up! It's going to be a fun ride!

Since she had the idea, let's start with Gail. Her favorite sweater that she knitted for herself is the Weekender. She wears it often and it fits her beautifully. I neglected to get the name of the cowl but the all black lace shawl is called Brickless and we admired Gail for her tenacity to knit with black yarn.
Next up is her Good People Shawl by Laura Dobratz. The Knights Who Say Knit in the center was knitted with yarns dyed by our very own Terri Bartosik of Whole Knit n' Caboodle. The yarns were dyed specifically for this project. Lastly in the row is the Maytham Shawl which Gail said took 5 people at 4 different stores to help her knit!
Gail kept saying she had shown us enough but we begged her to bring out the very last shawl, the Sagan Shawl. I can't find a link to the pattern so I might have gotten the name wrong.

Tina couldn't make it this week so she sent me the photos of her favorites. Last week she started the little froggie purse which had a pattern written in Japanese. She enlisted the help of Keiko to translate as much as possible and followed the chart of crochet stitches to make him. The center crocheted project is a soap sack and the last a beautifully crocheted afghan of flowers. But the all time favorite of hers is...
The Chicago Cubs blanket, fully crocheted! What an undertaking!!! Well done Tina!!!

Darwin's favorite project is one that Gerry crocheted for him, Sonic the Hedgehog of video game fame. He decided the pattern was a bit too involved for his liking so Gerry very generously offered to make it for him.

Gerry's favorite project are these little elves she crocheted for her sister in 1980. She bought the heads at the Woolworth's, a store that existed when I was a child back in the 50's. Ooops! Now I'm giving away my age. ;)

Yvonne knitted this magnificent Celtic patterned afghan for her mother over 40 years ago.

Her beautiful work was knitted on one long circular needle in one piece!

My first knitted project is 61 years old!!! It was stored in my cedar chest and shows no sign of wear or pilling. My mother taught me this pattern as I started freshman year of high school and it was finally completed by the time I graduated. Instead of buttonholes, I hand sewed grosgrain ribbon to the button bands and attached large snaps so the buttons are purely ornamental.
Jim modeled Athena's favorite project, a crocheted hat with a ruffled edge.
She improvised the whole pattern!

Barbara's favorite project was this adorable bunny she knitted for her granddaughter. The Elderberry Bunny has clothes too!

Maria's favorite knit is the Nightshift Shawl by Andrea Mowry, a lovely, colorful shawl.

She is especially happy with how nicely the I-cord edging turned out.

Ceil's favorite project is her Fairyhill Shawl. It has a feminine, pretty crescent shape and lace. And I can't say enough about the lovely color!

Kathy's favorite project is a gorgeous shawl she wove on her 32" rigid heddle loom. She used a yarn which was dyed for Cece's Wool and More in Guilderland.

Pam's project is a favorite and sort of a first. She had a friend from work that offered to teach Pam and some others a refresher course in knitting. The result is this lovely sampler scarf which includes many different designs that teach different techniques.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program... Pam wanted to knit fingerless mitts that had individual partial fingers. It was a little fiddly but with her trusty DP's, she managed to get it done. The pattern is called 10 & 0 and it's free!

Darwin chose colors from his video game pallette to crochet an afghan. Gerry started another hat using a front post double crochet stitch for the ribbed cuff. Athena had to rip out the blanket she was crocheting because it wouldn't lay flat. So she's starting all over again.
Maria and Kathy, the bookends to Ceil's cowl, are both starting hats.
And can we say "BORING!"? My project is a 2x2 ribbed beanie. After a few intricate projects, I needed something mindless to relax.

Jim's hat is coming along nicely. The first frame and last frame show his progress.
Bob, in the center, quietly knits his blankets.
Pam has a second project going too. Her Helix Hat is almost finished.

I finished a single stripe hat using a fun technique I found on YouTube. Keiko designed this hat herself! We are so impressed with her skills because she came here not speaking English nor knowing how to knit and she has come so far on both! Keiko told us today that her time in the US is nearing the end. She will be returning to Japan in mid March. We will certainly miss her and her bubbly personality but hope we have helped her make happy memories to bring back home. Gail asked her if she had a friend in Japan who could help her with her knitting questions and her response was to point to me! LOL! I suppose we could work something out on Zoom.
Barbara is knitting the Johnny Hat, a stranded pattern with charts for the design. It was offered for free for a limited time but now is a paid pattern.

Gail is still working on her knit-a-long socks which use a self striping yarn that she and her friends purchased together so they could make the socks their personal KAL. She is also working on a Helix Hat. And Yvonne is adding another dish cloth to her collection to donate.
Since today is Valentine's Day, Athena made a card and brought me some beautiful roses. Thank you so much Athena! They will be the centerpiece at dinner tonight.

I hope you enjoyed the show and tell this week. We certainly did!
Happy Valentine's Day to all! And keep those needles clicking!
