We learned more about each other

We started out the afternoon sharing each other's experiences with the fiber arts. I asked everyone to take turns telling us when they learned their craft, who taught them, and what is their favorite thing to make.

On the average, most everyone learned the basics before the teen years with a few learning as adults. A lot of us were taught by family members; grandmothers, aunts, mothers. And some were taught by neighbors. As far as favorite things to make, there was a variety from shawls to clothing, or just about anything. I had a good time hearing their stories.

Gerry crocheted a lovely washcloth using my favorite color turquoise and a pretty SC and DC combo stitch. The yellow scalloped edging was the perfect finishing touch.

I started the Dexter Vest for a toddler. It's a pattern I've made many times and is a good social knitting project. This designer has many baby patterns for free on Ravelry.

Ceil started a new baby blanket using a machine washable cotton and wool blend yarn.

The pattern is called Touch of Kindness and is for sale on Ravelry.

Ceil also showed us her completed corner to corner blanket knitted with a gradient yarn that has a little sparkle thread that catches the light ever so gently.

Tina couldn't join us today but she sent me a picture of her Totally Biased Cowl and her 1898 hat which she completed.

Athena works hard at crocheting her rounds for the blanket she's making for a friend.

She finished a bonnet and a cap for our inventory too.

Edgar's blanket, which he is knitting for himself, is a little bigger than last week's version.

Janna's DASHA blanket has also grown larger since we last met. The pretty teal yarn is a very soft llama fiber.

Barbara's Top Down Raglan Child's Sweater has one sleeve started and one in the wings.

Yvonne's buttery yellow blanket will be perfect for keeping a wee one warm.

It took 3 of us to help get Charlene back on track with her Norwegian Fir Cardigan for her granddaughter.

She was having issues with picking up the stitches for the sleeve. This is why I tell people to knit with a group who has more experience than you. Look at all the free lessons you get!

Debra F added length to her cabled baby blanket. The self patterning yarn makes such a cute design.

Peggy worked on her sweater which is from a pattern her MIL shared with her many moons ago.

This sweet blue and white cardi is what it will look like when it's finished. She made this one with her MIL's guidance.

Rena added a deep burgundy to her corner to corner blanket and it looks gorgeous! It makes the variegated sections pop!

Gail set aside the hat she was knitting to work on the same Top down Raglan that Barbara is knitting.

Bob's blanket is coming along nicely. That pink is such a stunning color!

And Jim worked diligently on his knitted scarf.

Allison learned how to crochet a half double crochet stitch this week.

Cinzia started this project a few times until she finally landed on a pattern she liked.

It's this adorable pullover sweater, the pattern for which she found in...

this book which she got at the library.

Here is another one of Yvonne's projects, a hat that showed signs of running out of yarn well before completion so Plan B had to be implemented. It is now going to be a cowl.

I think that's just about it for the week. Enjoy the weekend and keep those needles clicking!
