Another rainy day

Everyone was grateful to find their way to a warm, dry place today. It's one of those gray and rainy days that chills you to the bone. But it was toasty warm at the library.

Judy's daughter is left handed and was having trouble following a pattern for this gorgeous afghan Judy made which her daughter wanted to duplicate.

I've taught a few lefties how to knit and have always taught them to hold the yarn in the dominant hand and follow the directions as is. Someone told Judy's daughter to reverse the written instructions! NO! NO! NO! There is no good reason to reverse everything. Just hold the yarn in the hand which is most comfortable and follow the pattern. I might have a Zoom lesson with her in the future.

Gail has knitted the first pattern repeat of her Among the Wildflowers Beanie and she isn't thrilled with the results. Sometimes patterns require a good 3" or so of knitting to develop how the design will look. I'm sure she will like this once she has a few more repeats knitted.

She is also working on a blanket of scraps. It is knitted with two colors of yarn held together.

Her constant color is a soft gray and the second changes when she runs out. It's really pretty!

Maria's corner to corner blanket is coming along nicely. She knits a nice even tension which is achieved only through lots of practice.

Rena is working on a corner to corner blanket as well. She decided to add other colors. These blankets are easily customizeable.

Edgar keeps his head down and soldiers on with his corner to corner blanket.

Missy gets the chance to crochet on her projects only when she visits our group so she isn't very far along but it's getting there.

Jim's scarf is growing too.

The sweater Charlene is knitting for her granddaughter is 1.5" away from binding off and then she'll make the sleeves.

Yvonne's blanket reminds me of a honeycomb from a distance. Some sweet child will love the cheery yellow!

Heidi couldn't attend last week because she took the 1.5 hour ride to Northampton, MA to see what WEBS had to offer her at their big annual sale. She said she was successful in finding machine washable yarns for baby clothes. Right now she is knitting the Kakano Hat, a freebie on Ravelry.

Bob started a new blanket and his colors are stunning! That pink and gray combo looks beautiful!

Pam finished the two pullover sweaters and we're hoping it goes to siblings who will wear them together.

Now she is working on an 1898 Hat using a finer gauge yarn and smaller needle to make a smaller size for a child. The pattern is written for an adult size hat but if you play around with yarn and needles, you can change the size.

Barbara's baby sweater is getting its first sleeve. That blue cord you see on the left sleeve is barber cord used as a stitch holder.

Peggy needed a little help deciphering a 40 something year old pattern

she got from her MIL.

Today she got a refresher on how to add stitches at the beginning of a row using the knitted cast on method.

I almost forgot to show you my Throwback Pixie Hood. I am very close to finishing it and then the top seam will be grafted closed.

If it doesn't stop raining soon I'm afraid I'll grow webbed feet! Even Fozzie seems disappointed with the rain. He'll be over it as soon as I open a can of food! LOL!

Have a great week and keep those needles clicking!
