As I drove to the library today, I thought it was odd the the neighborhood elementary school was dismissing the students at noon and the school buses were lined up waiting for the kids to board. Then the traffic light at the end of the street was not working and traffic was crazy at the intersection! I finally parked in the library parking lot only to find a couple of Stitch Angels who had arrived early were waiting for the door to be unlocked. It was then that we were informed that the power was out completely up and down all of Delaware Avenue and the library would be closed for the remainder of the day! Plan B was immediately put into effect. We all walked down the street to the ice cream parlor, Emack & Bolio's because we knew they had outdoor space with enough tables and chairs in some shade to accommodate all of us.

By the time we arrived (it was close enough to walk) the power was restored and the store was open. So some of us ordered refreshing smoothies to keep us cool while we worked. Pat, lower right, worked on a scarf with a lovely heathered yarn.

Mike had a quick lesson in tinking (tink is knit spelled backwards because when you need to fix something instead of pulling the work off the needles and risking making a mess, you un-knit each stitch going backwards to preserve the knitted fabric) because he was knitting while his sister was visiting and he noticed a section in which he was purling when he should have been knitting. Been there, done that! My fingers sometimes go on automatic pilot so I have a lot of experience with tinking. Mike is back on track and it's smooth sailing now.

Gerry found a good spot in some dappled sunshine to work on her crocheted blanket.

And Bob worked on a tan while he added length to his blanket.

Jim started a new blanket for a friend who picked out custom colors.

Tina started the Twin City Scarf. Her yarn selection is perfect for great stitch definition to show off the lovely cables.

Janna reached the portion of her 1898 Hat where she is now picking up edge stitches to knit the crown of the hat.

Pam worked on her Corduroy Scarf which she has memorized. It's a great pattern for social knitting which might have distractions.

Debra and Rena are having a KAL, knit-a-long, where they are knitting the same pattern, in this case a pair of socks. This is the first time Rena has made socks so she had a quick lesson in knitting the heel and it's coming along beautifully.

Ceil started another Upward Bound Beanie and is keeping her fingers crossed that she has enough yarn to finish it.

Edgar kept plugging away at his crochet project while enjoying the fresh air.

Lu's scarf is much longer this week and will be warm and cozy when finished.

I just turned the AC off in my house but after today I'm thinking I might have been too hasty in making that decision. But I won't complain. The sunny days are delightful! Have a great week and keep those needles clicking.
