Starting a new cycle

Last week we delivered all the baby gifts to our recipients and this week we begin a new cycle for those of us who knit for donation. We need to fill the inventory with items to distribute for our annual yarn bombing which will take place in November.

Barbara chose the Misty Beanie pattern which is being offered for free with a code word for today only. So hurry over to Ravelry if you want a copy for your library.

She is using a pretty teal colored yarn for her project. The pattern suggests holding two strands of worsted weight yarn together throughout the project to get a bulky weight gauge but I suppose you could also just use a bulky yarn, provided you knit to the gauge suggested in the pattern.

Rena is using a bulky weight yarn to make a hat using double pointed needles or DP's. This is going to be nice and warm for the winter.

Debra is using her DP's to make a pair of mittens with a single ply wool.

Keiko brought her friend Kaori to help her with the language barrier, although she is understanding English amazingly well! Not only is she learning a new language, she is learning how to knit at the same time! She bought yarn and needles to knit the Sophie Scarf.

Ceil's shawl is such a lovely color combination! She leans towards these colors the same as I lean towards turquoise.

Her shawl pattern is called Good Vibes and can be purchased on Ravelry.

I started another reversible hat which was inspired by the Musselburgh using three variegated sock weight yarns. These yarns are knitted in the Helix method so the single row stripes follow each other with no jog where the colors change. The opposite side will be a solid purple sock weight yarn which makes the

colors on this side pop!

Karen put the finishing touches on a child's hat. She knitted a strap and will crochet a button in lieu of two cords that tie under the chin.

From left to right: Terry, The Queen of Loom Knitting, with her scarf, Bob with his vibrant colored blanket, and Jim with his original design all worked diligently on their projects.

There are only six weeks left to knit for the yarn bombing so I'm going to say bye and get back to my project. Keep those needles clicking!
