And crocheting! It seems with holiday guests and germs floating in the air, we were down to only 10 people today.
One of whom was Yoshi! We haven't seen her in quite a long time so it was so nice to see her smiling face once again. And look at the adorable skirt she knitted for herself!!! She showed us how she knitted a ribbed waistband with a channel through the middle into which she threaded a cord to tie the waist snugly. It looks so good on her!
Her current project, which she just started, is a short sweater in my favorite color.
If I'm not mistaken, she designed it too.
I finished two hats over the holiday week. The brown one is the Orchard Harvest Beanie, made with a machine washable acrylic. The burgundy hat is the Stretchy Swirl Beanie made with 100% wool. The green hat I began last night and will become the Frost Ridge Beanie, made with a machine washable acrylic/wool blend.
Karen completed three hats from the same basic pattern but in three different methods and sizes. The one on the far left is crocheted using the same parameters as the other two which were knitted using different size needles and slightly different stitch patterns.
She is currently working on a basic beanie but with a different pattern.
Edgar is using stitch markers on the first and last stitch of each row to maintain a straight edge. Crochet can be tricky when it comes to knowing where to put the first stitch on a new row. Marking that first stitch leaves a landmark so there is no guessing.
Yvonne is about halfway through a hat with a double thick brim for warmth.
Gail's Helix Hat is just about finished. Her next hat will be three strands of yarn held together to create a bulky weight yarn which will knit up quickly.
Ceil started another Bankhead hat. It's a good social knitting project.
Bob finished another one of his colorful blankets and on the far right he has started another with a pink variegated yarn.
In the center is a hat Jim started using yarn he received from Santa. ;)
Keiko must really like the Waldkind scarf because she has started a third one in pink before finishing the red one and beige one. I have to admit, it is a fun pattern to knit.
She is going to need them with the 28 degree day today! Thankfully, there is no wind blowing to make it feel any colder and the sun is shining brightly through the tree branches. And we've reached the time of year when the days start getting longer.
We'll be back next week but let me take the time to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. And as usual, keep those needles clicking!
