Just added another Stitch Angel

Mary Lou heard about the Stitch Angels from Barbara while they attended a fitness class at the local Y. It helps to have good recruiters circulating around town. LOL!

She is a retired Spanish teacher who enjoys knitting and helping others.

So she's a great addition to our group.

She already had a completed hat in her inventory and...

she's working on another using two strands of worsted weight yarn held together to create a bulky weight for quick knitting.

The group was a bit smaller today because Jim, Athena, Kathy, and Gerry are going to be working on another project for the next eight weeks.

But Bob was in attendance with his glorious blanket. I asked if he was nearing completion yet and he responded, "Not yet." It's going to fit a king size bed by the time he's finished.

Barbara finished the Grandma's Baby Hat which she was knitting last week. Those colorful stripes add a lot of pizazz!

Her current project is Avery's Happy Cap which starts at the back of the bonnet and ends with a darling ruffled edge.

Tina graduated to working on a flat knitted 2X2 ribbed hat. This is the first item she has ever knitted and she wants to get it right. When she found a couple of stitches which were purled instead of knitted, I explained she didn't have to rip it out but could instead just drop the stitch in error down to the mistake and use a crochet hook to ladder it back up in the correct orientation.

Being an excellent crocheter, she knew exactly what I meant and fixed it in no time! She is picking up this knitting gig like a pro!

Pam is using a variegated sock weight yarn to knit the Headband with Cable which is a freebie on Ravelry.com. You can see the beginning of the cable at the early stages.

One of Pam's favorite patterns to make is the Musselburgh Hat. She used two contrasting yarns to make a reversible hat which can be worn...

either side out. It's construction starts with a pinhole cast on and increases to the required circumference, then the tube continues to the length indicated for the size you need when the decreases start to close the opposite end. It is double thick throughout with four layers over the ears so it makes a cozy, warm hat.

Pam is also working on the Little Women-Inspired Neck Kerchief with a pretty pastel gradient yarn. The yummy colors scream springtime.

Tomasa has chosen a lovely color combination to make the Morton Cowl. She has a good eye for choosing just the right blends of color! One of the yarns is a solid and the other is a gradient which results in a beautiful fabric.

Her alternate project is the Easy Goes It in fingering weight yarn. There is another free version for DK weight as well.

Keiko has reach the section of her 22.5 Degrees Shawl which has a scalloped edging. This row started with 389 stitches on the needle and increases to double that by the end of the row. That's a LOT of stitches!

Mary Jo has made progress on her Wild Posy Pullover since last week. The yarn is a single ply and very delicate if it is pulled. But she is holding two strands to knit the sweater which gives it strength when knitted.

And today she wore another sweater she knitted and even has eyeglasses to match!

Yvonne is using two strands of a cotton yarn to knit dishcloths. She was hoping the motif would show up better but the color changes make it a little murky. That's ok, it will still be a good dishcloth!

Janna combined a variety of yarn colors to make the Just Mosaic It Shawl. The vertical lines are slipped stitches which highlight the pattern.

Gail showed off her new stitch marker a friend made for her which denotes the beginning of round on her A Cabling We Will Go Beanie.

My needles are working on a pair of crazy socks using leftovers and the TAAT on magic loop method (two-at-a-time). My plan is to knit an afterthought heel and cuff in purple to match the toe.

Maggie arrived after I had already taken the group picture but I wanted to be sure to include her. She recently attended a knitting retreat and completely enjoyed the experience.

She spent her time at the retreat weaving ends in on finished projects so she could carry on a conversation with other knitters.

Today she worked on knitting the thumbs on these mittens.

Maria had to leave before I was able to get a picture of her knitting but as she said, it was just casting on 100 stitches to start a cowl. Maybe next week we'll get to see some progress.

"Someone" is waiting for food and getting into mischief to get my attention.

So before Fozzie bites through a computer cable, I'll be off until next week. Have a great week, wear you safety glasses if you're going to watch the eclipse, and keep those needles clicking!
