The group was smaller than the usual attendance now that summer is here and people are traveling. But we still had a pleasant time sharing projects and inspiring each other. An advantage of knitting with a group is we share what we are currently working on and it might tweak an idea or inspire another to make the same thing. And of course we are always ready to share our skills with whomever might need a helping hand.

Tomasa finished a kimono style baby sweater with a vibrant magenta yarn. The color was stunning!

The Baby Kimono is available free on Ravelry. The buttons can be sewn on either side front for boy or girl. Tomasa said it was an easy project.

She brought along the sweater she is knitting for herself too. The top down construction makes it an easy sweater to make and can be tried on while being
knitted to insure proper fit.

Barbara just cast on stitches for this lacy Baby Hat.

Barbara is using a pretty dusty rose yarn in a machine washable acrylic.

Gail is getting the hang of knitting with the bandaged finger. She has a bit to go on this blanket but it will be adorable when finished.

Geri was counting stitches and if there's one thing you don't ever want to do when someone is counting stitches, it's interrupt them!

She brought along a new project too. She wanted to teach herself how to crochet a doily so she opened up a YouTube video and got to work. We reminisced about our grandmothers who used to make whole bedspreads with this fine crochet thread so it gave us all a new appreciation for the skill and patience it took to make something of that magnitude.

Athena wanted to crochet a baby hat so we worked on the beginnings of a simple cap. She knows the family is having a boy and requested blue yarn, which she just happened to have.

Jim is nearing the end of the orange yarn and will be adding another color soon.

Terri has a knack for putting great colors together to create a nice tweedy looking effect.

Rena started another shawl with a lovely gradient yarn. The colors blend so beautifully and look like a juicy peach!

The Triangle Knit Shawl is free on Ravelry.

My needles hold the Aviatrix Baby Hat in a DK weight Plymouth Encore, machine wash and dry. I don't know if I mentioned this before but when I first tried this, I knitted as far as the first section and came to an abrupt full stop. I couldn't understand the pattern. So I put it away and went to bed. By the next day I was able to suss out the problem I was having. As usual, it was my interpretation of the written directions which was making me trip up. It's smooth sailing now.

It's time to get back to my knitting. Have a great week and keep those needles clicking!
