The Stitch Angels were running an efficient assembly line to get all the items sorted and labeled so we could deliver them to the Delaware Community School, an elementary school across the street from the library.

When I contacted the school a few months ago they were overjoyed at being chosen to be one of our recipients as they had experienced some of our handiworks from the last few yarn bombings when we hung child sized garments on the fence surrounding the playground. They were extremely grateful to receive our gifts today.

We delivered 91 items which included 37 pairs of mittens, 41 hats, 4 cowls, 2 vests, 1 pair of socks, and 4 sets which included matching hats, mittens, cowls, vest, hood, and headbands. And since many of those items were pairs and sets, there were many more than 91. Qiana (first one on the left) and Sonya (last one on the right) were so excited to begin distributing all the goodies.

Keiko put the finishing touches on the hood she made and was able to include the adorable set in today's donation.

When the delivery was made, some of us got right back to work.

ree

Kathy worked on her beading while...

ree

some of us took a well deserved rest and caught up on the latest knitting patterns.

ree

Athena put her crochet aside today to work on a new project.

ree

She is making belly bands, decorative beaded belts.

ree

Bob added more of the pretty aqua bands of color to his blanket while Terry proudly showed us her finished scarf. The Queen of Loom Knitting has already started another project!

We added a new member to the Angels. This is Kevin and he's knitting a gorgeous poncho for himself.

ree

Look at that beautiful stitch work! He learned to knit when he was in college using the "English" or throwing method but has since taught himself how to pick using the Continental method with the yarn held in the left hand. Welcome to the fold Kevin! We hope you enjoy the group.

ree

Jim has turned the corner on his project and is switching back to crocheting the edges.

ree

Yoshi is working on a pair of convertible mittens with a flip to to expose fingers when needed.

ree

This is what they will look like when completed.

ree

Karen worked on a shawl using a boucle yarn called Homespun.

ree

And Ceil worked on her shawl using a delightfully dyed yarn called Over the Rainbow.

ree

Tomasa looks like she coordinated her outfit, nail enamel, and knitting project to match. Her sock will have a solid teal heel and...

ree

toe just like this one. Pretty colors!

ree

Maggie found some help to weave the ends of her finished pair of mittens.

ree

And now she is finishing up another pair on double pointed needles.

ree

Barbara is working on a pair of baby socks to go with the layette set she is knitting for her cousin.

ree

Cinzia is using a cotton yarn to knit placemats for a fund raiser in which she is participating.

ree

And last but not least, we have Gail knitting a Helix Hat. This pattern is a great stash busting project because it uses up those small amounts of yarn that you hate to throw away.

ree

We are going to be knitting personal projects for the next few weeks until arrangements can be made for our next recipient. Until then, keep those needles clicking!
