A quiet afternoon

It's so nice to spend a tranquil afternoon with my knit and crochet Angels. We have our show and tell and swap stories about our week. Sometimes we get to help each other with a knitting or crochet question. There's always somebody who comes up with a solution.

Pat is crocheting these handy tote bags into which she will put toiletries and items a new mom and her baby could use.
These will be part of our donation to Community Maternity Services.

Karen found out there's a new baby arriving soon in her extended family so she is making a gender neutral blanket with a machine washable yarn. She had been working on a red sweater but the yarn was making the experience unbearable so she asked my permission to abandon the project and donate the yarn. She was very grateful that I agreed with her to toss it aside. Life is too short to knit with bad yarn!

Janna is also using a machine wash and dry yarn to make these adorable baby hats. At this size they knit up quickly.

Last week we were grateful recipients of a generous supply of wool and I picked out a few skeins and went right to work. This is a basic beanie, no special pattern, just cast on a bunch, knit some ribbing, and knit until it's tall enough, decrease, and close the top. BOOM! You have a hat!

Gail is back to working on her Morton Cowl after finishing a few other projects. It is knitted to the desired length and the short ends are seamed together. It's a good pattern for combining bulky weight yarn and fingering weight yarn.

Her Fluxus Shawl is finished and it is GORGEOUS! She has to block it for the final step but it's a beauty!

Speaking of beauties, Nancy is almost finished with her Papillon Shawl also known as the Butterfly Shawl. When she picked the yarn from an online store, the only colors she could see in the variegated ball were the blues and purples. But as she knitted it, this whole rainbow exploded into yarny goodness! It's gorgeous too!

Now she's working on the Dotty Cowl, a free pattern on Ravelry. I just noticed that I have it in my library too and she has inspired me to go stash diving to find an appropriate yarn. Startitis here I come!

Pam had just enough yarn left after making socks to squeeze out a hat too. This self striping yarn saves time and effort when knitting a pattern design.

Now she's working on a scarf for our annual yarn bombing coming up in November.

We had some more donated yarn today so Pam was curious to see what the fabric would look like with this sock weight yarn. It's going to make a cute pair of socks!

Barbara arrived a little late to get into our group picture so here she is working on the Syxx Hat. The border is made with slipped stitches creating a kind of honeycomb effect. Her choice of using a variegated yarn for the center of the honeycombs is creative.
She also completed a pair of baby socks and a Swirl Hat. The hat was from yarn she picked up from last week's donation.

I've decided I don't hoard yarn, I run a rescue center for wayward skeins. So, I better get back to my projects. LOL!
Have a great week and keep those needles clicking!
