A full house

I lost track of how many Stitch Angels there were today as they moved around the room, stretching their legs. I try to remind myself to get up every half hour, even if it means just running to the other room for a drink of water. I don't know about you but I could sit for hours on end, knitting long into the night which we all know is unhealthy.

What's that mantra? Just one more row! LOL!

We had a visitor today, Lauren, who heard of our group and asked for some guidance to knit herself a dress. She took some notes so she wouldn't forget and then...

learned a new way to cast on stitches for her grand project.

Athena crocheted her project while Jim decided to crochet a sweater. I made a quick sketch for him to follow since he likes to wing it without a pattern.

Darwin's pillowcase is for a rather large pillow.

Gerry started a stole for a gift using a chenille yarn that is soft and fluffy. It is sure to keep the recipient warm! Last week I showed you Janna's project which she started with the yarn on the top right. She wasn't thrilled with the lack of stitch definition so she decided to add the bright blue yarn on the left and it has made a huge difference in the look of the fabric, much to her pleasure.

Pat started the Seis Cabos Beanie, a Benjamin Matthews paid pattern. She was inspired by Pam's version we saw last week.

She started casting on stitches when she realized it looked much larger than the pattern description suggested. She was using a needle two sizes larger than the pattern called for so we figured out how many stitches were in the pattern repeat and just removed some until it measured the appropriate size.

Since last week, Bob has added another new color to his blanket.

And Edgar added another inch to his hat.

Our current project is to make men's hats for the City Mission so Tomasa has chosen the Regular Guy Beanie for her hat. She is using a nice neutral gray yarn. Cinzia wanted to make her own dryer balls so she won't have to use fabric softener and the clothes will dry faster. After she knits the sphere she will stuff it with more wool and then wash in very hot water and throw it in the dryer to felt it.

Gail is beginning the decrease portion of her Helix Hat. It will be finished in no time now.

Mike put aside his slow growing scarf project to work on a scarf which should move along more quickly than the tiny needles/tiny yarn scarf.

The bulky weight yarn and heavier gauge needles will make this a quick knit!

Keiko is an amazing knitter. To think she did not know how to knit at all when she came here from Japan and did not speak English, and now she is making intricate projects. She asked me to help her understand the workings of the Waldkind Scarf. I just noticed that I teach knitting like I speak, my hands move automatically! LOL! It must be the Italian in me. ;)

We worked on the red scarf together last week and she made the cream colored one on her own. By the time we meet again these will probably be finished.

Ceil started the Bankhead Beanie using a nice neutral tonal tan yarn.

Try saying that five times quickly. LOL! The free pattern includes sizes from baby to XL.

Barbara picked the Rocketeer Beanie for her next project.

This looks like a good pattern for social knitting...

Unlike the one on my needles. The Orchard Harvest Beanie, another Benjamin Matthews design, is not at all difficult but it requires my total attention. You might have better luck with it. I'm one of those people who needs absolute silence when I read or the ambient noise distracts me too much.

Yvonne is almost finished with another colorful beanie.

She is a prolific knitter, knocking off a hat a week!

Cinzia is a quick knitter too! I saw her cast on for this hat on Tuesday and she's done already!

Barbara finished the Lucky 7 Hat which uses a worsted weight yarn. She chose a yarn which gives fantastic stitch definition to show off those cables.

With the holidays approaching, we decided that we won't be meeting next week. So let me take this opportunity to wish you happy holidays and a blessed new year. And don't forget...

keep those needles clicking!
